My favorite podcasts. And why.

I love podcasts so much and I want to share that love with you. I selected some of my favorites. They are made with care for storytelling, timing, musicality, and immersing us in a new world.

(Never listen to podcasts? It is free and actually easier to do than you think.)

Feel free to let me know in the comments your favorites and/or what you thought of my favorites!

Dolly Parton’s America

Dolly is one of the most delightful human beings to listen to. And she seems to connect to all kinds of people: young, old, progressive, conservative, liberal, religious, etc.

Jad Abumrad made such a masterpiece with this podcast. It made me think, hope, dance, hold my breath but most of all: it made me love Dolly even more.

Mystery Show

A beautifully made, cute, and dry podcast where Sharlee Kine solves her friend’s mysteries like: ‘Who is the person behind the fascinating license plate I once saw?’ or ‘Why was Britney Spears seen with my quite unsuccessful book?’.

It is Sharlee’s incredible interest in other humans that make any conversation she has a fascinating listen.

Total feel good. Unfortunately only 1 season.

(For Dutchies: Sara’s Mysteries is minstens zo goed.)

Poetry Unbound

My favorite morning listen.

In approx. 15 minutes you hear Pádraig Ó Tuama read a great poem, then give some insights or things to think about, and then he reads the poem again.

It is so beautiful and meaningful. Full of interesting, diverse authors too. And who doesn’t have 15 minutes?

Serial

I read somewhere it was cited to be ‘an audio game-changer’. And it is true. If you haven’t listened to it yet, I am surprised to be honest. But also excited for you!

Sarah Koenig tells the true story of a murder investigation. But SO WELL. This is the podcast world record holder.

Wind of Change

When you hear the premise of this podcast, you might think it is a joke. But then this podcast takes you into a fascinating history of the cold war, pop music, and conspiracy theories.

All to find out: Is the famous song ‘Wind of Change’ by the Scorpions actually… actually anti-Russia propaganda…. written by the CIA?

My dad wrote a porno

It is a classic for a reason. An incredibly funny podcast from 3 friends discussing a porno that one of their fathers wrote.

The badly written dialogues are the starting point of an even funnier podcast.

In case you were wondering…. (I don’t know, were you?)

I also have a podcast. With short 10-15 min. episodes full of tips for improv, teaching, and how to feel awesome.
