If we look back to our past love life, what did it bring us? Any wisdom, any regrets, any hope?
In this show Sven Lanser and Laura Doorneweerd use their real life experiences in love, sex, relationships and heartbreak to inspire scenes about love.
And they are getting real. Very real. With the audience, with themselves and… With each other.
“ME & MY EX is daring, intimate and vulnerable improvisation theatre. Through touching, straight-forward or hilarious monologues and scenes, the actors share their own personal memories on relations, love and – of course – exes. Their frank and open attitude instantly creates an intimate connection with the audience, who will remember and consider their own steps on the rocky roads of relationships.” – Martine Werners (The Netherlands), Feb. 2015
“The title ME & MY EX is not a gimmick: the scenes (exploring the various stages of romantic relationships) are fuelled by episodes from the actual past of the actors, shared with the audience in short monologues. This choice results in a degree of openness and honesty on the part of the actors rarely seen in improv.” – Vincent van der Noort (The Netherlands), March 2015
An intriguing and capturing experience through relationships that explores vulnerability in a daring and truthful way. – Daniel Orrantia (Colombia), May 2015
Sven and Laura’s charming show is unique – both actors are incredibly open and vulnerable, which makes for a very intimate setting in the theater. Because of the variety in the types of scenes they play, it never feels like watching a two person show, but rather like watching a larger ensemble. – Kiki Hohnen (The Netherlands), June 2015
Me & My Ex is a daring and fun show, with both improvisers going to some vulnerable places in the service of entertainment. Highly recommended! – Rory Brosnan (The Netherlands/Ireland), June 2015
Through their strong onstage connection, Sven and Laura were able to instantly create an intimate, sexy, emotional space. As an audience member I found myself riveted, with an almost voyeuristic pleasure, to the whole spectrum of love stories, near misses, and relationship truths that the show encompassed. A barely noticeable show structure allowed the improvisers to make the courageous leaps that make a show unforgettable, by revealing themselves and drawing on some intensely personal parts of their own lives, all with a naturalness that seemed effortless. – Olli Rasini (Italy/US), July 2015
