Love is the common feeling bounding all the living creatures on earth. But what if objects can fall in love, have their heart broken or live happily ever after? Maybe a pencil and an eraser can have a future. Or maybe true love is out of reach for a tea kettle and a chocolate tab. In this duoshow, we follow the impossible love story between two objects or animals. Will they succeed to see beyond their differences? Will they be accepted in their lover’s family? Will love win overall? Laura and Gael are playing strong and physical characters to bring you a universal story of love and its obstacles. A show like a Pixar movie: sensitive, funny and never trivial.

The 2 performers are Gael Perry (Strasbourg, France) and Laura Doorneweerd (Amsterdam, the Netherlands).

Gael founded Strasbourg’s main improv group La Carpe Haute, and spends his time teaching and performing improv in and outside of France. He is known for his sound effects -even in silent scenes- and his incomparable mimed fishing skills.

When Laura is not traveling the world, she can be found cycling the Amsterdam canals between her jobs as actress, trainer and AD of TVA Impro. She loves slow motion running, bloody fights and smoking. On stage, that is.

Laura and Gael each co-founded a European network of improvisers. Laura co-created Ohana and Gael is the founding father of the SIN.

They travel the world for teaching and performing, individually and together. And yes, they also like-like each other ;)

Object of Affection is a beautiful, sweet, funny, physical show full of heart and laughter created by two absolute masters of their craft. It can be easy for old improvisers like myself to get jaded but watching this show will make you feel like you’re watching improv for the first time all over again. It’s just that magical.
